House Concurrent Resolution 153

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING LAKE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ON ATTAINING LEVEL 5 ACCREDITATION FOR THE 1998-1999 SCHOOL YEAR.

WHEREAS, Lake Elementary School traditionally has demonstrated the highest qualities of academic excellence; and

WHEREAS, Lake Elementary School has a student population of over 150 outstanding students in Kindergarten through Grade 5; and

WHEREAS, the faculty, administration and staff at Lake Elementary School consistently challenge their students to achieve the very best in academics; and

WHEREAS, during the 1998-1999 school year, Lake Elementary School attained a student performance index rating of 5.0, thereby receiving an accreditation level of 5.0, the highest accreditation rating a school can receive; and

WHEREAS, under the dedicated leadership and administration of Principal Lois Knight, the Lake Elementary School faculty and staff, Superintendent Dr. David Snowden and the Pascagoula Municipal Separate School District School Board, chaired by Mr. M.R. Cole, the school has achieved high academic performance while keeping the tax burden low on the citizens of the city; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi believes that it is most appropriate to pay special recognition to the students, teachers, administrators, staff, Pascagoula School Board members and parents of the Lake Elementary School students, who epitomize a commitment to educational excellence for the public schools of their city and state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Lake Elementary School on attaining Level 5 accreditation for the 1998-1999 school year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Lake Elementary School and the Capitol Press Corps.
